WebHemolysis, Elevated Liver enzymes and Low Platelets (HELLP) syndrome is one of the obstetrical syndromes mostly associated with DIC and thus, high rates of fatal complications. There is a lack of information regarding epidemiologic and clinical characteristics of women who developed HELLP syndrome with and without DIC. WebHELLP is an acronym that refers to a syndrome in pregnant and postpartum individuals characterized by hemolysis with a microangiopathic blood smear, elevated liver enzymes, and a low platelet count [ 1 ]. It probably represents a severe form of preeclampsia ( table 1A-B ), but the relationship between the two disorders remains controversial.
