WebJun 26, 2024 · I would like to read the inverter installation instructions, but probably you need to ground the battery to chassis near the battery (DC ground) and ground the inverter to the chassis near the inverter (AC protective earth ground). But if you have a shore power input on the inverter, AC ground is more complicated. \$\endgroup\$ – WebMar 6, 2015 · Supposedly what if the inverter develops an internal short, and seeing it is fused high, the 12vdc power must flow through the chassis, so IF you have a ground wire, and it is too small, then supposedly, the ground wire might burn and start a fire, cause the fuse wont blow.

WebMay 7, 2024 · When the trailer is connected to the tow vehicle, then the "chassis" is where the "ground terminal" needs connected. It is not as critical as it sounds. It is a safety measure "just in case" there is a short. If you have the inverter turned off when towing, then don't worry about "grounding" it to the chassis.
